Memories of the Gävle Goat 1966
The first Gävle Goat was built at our family cottage
In 1966, the very first Gävle Goat was built at our family's cottage in Trödje. I was only one year old at the time. My uncle Stig made the first sketch on a napkin at Lido, and my father, Jörgen Gavlen, drew up the plans and designed the structure. The Goat was then built by members of the Gävle fire brigade.

Memories of the Gävle Goat 2025
A tradition that lives on
The Gävle Goat has been part of our family ever since the first Goat was built in 1966. Here I am with my sister Christina in front of the Gävle Goat in 2025, almost 60 years after our father, Jörgen, helped create the very first one.
