Mount Lustigknopp
Lustigknopp isn’t just the highest point in Gästrikland – it’s also where three provinces meet: Gästrikland, Dalarna, and Hälsingland. At the summit, 402 metres above sea level, a sign marks this unique border.
Information
The easiest way up is from the village of Baståsen in Svartnäs parish. From the car park, a two-kilometre trail winds its way to the top – first through a peaceful, mossy spruce forest, then across a clearing.
At the summit, you’re rewarded with sweeping views. Forests stretch out in every direction, lakes sparkle in the distance, and blue ridgelines roll deep into Dalarna and Hälsingland. It’s the kind of view that makes you pause – in any season, in any weather.
Lustigknopp offers a close-to-nature experience with well-marked trails, blueberry bushes lining the path, and a strong sense of being in the heart of Sweden’s forested interior. A short but memorable hike for anyone who appreciates stillness, wide open views – and a perfect photo opportunity at the top.
